You're right about NIC 2 and the gateway. I was looking at it wrong.

You don't want any Gateway at all on this NIC card.

If a router says "I don't have anywhere else to go so what do I do now", it needs a default location (path of last resort, you might say). If there is no default gateway, the response will be "Path Unreachable". If you have a gateway, it says "I have no where else to go so I will go out of this router to the one specified as the gateway and let him handle it".

If you look at your routing table you have 2 default gateways, both going to 10.168.161.113.

But if you look at the interface it is leaving from on is 192.168.50.1 and the other is 10.168.161.114 (which is correct). Now, in my case where I set mine up the same way, it seems to work. But in reality, you only want 1 and it has to be the one that goes out 10.168.161.114.

If you take out the gateway from NIC 2, you should see that the 2nd default gateway will be gone. The default gateways are the ones that start with 0.0.0.0.

Now try to ping. Try www.yahoo.com from the NS1, before even trying the work stations. If that works, try the workstation. If it still not working, check the registry entry we talked about before. Make sure it is set to 1.

And Reboot just to make sure.

Thanks,

Tom

What do you mean about the DNS?

It should be the same as NIC 1, if you are asking about the primary and alternate DNS Servers.

Thanks,

Tom

I'M CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET ........ SETTING NIC2 GATEWAY TO "EMPTY" WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, TFS .. I'D PAY YOU A TRILLION BILLION DOLLARS IF I HAD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

conn goes like this:

provider <-> router <-> switch <-> NS1/NS2 <-> NIC1 <-> NIC2 <-> switch <-> Access Point <-> Antennas <-> WET 11s <-> me!

NIC1:
IP: 10.168.161.114
SM: 255.255.255.240
GW: 10.168.161.113
DNS: 10.127.17.71, 10.127.16.68

NIC2:
IP: 192.168.50.1
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: <blank> <---- !!!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!
DNS: 10.127.17.71, 10.127.16.68

NAT:
NIC1: public network connected to internet (I didn't put in the list of public IP's yet, 10.168.161.115 - 10.168.161.127)
NIC2: private network connected to internet

DHCP:
1 scope containing IP's 2-254
DNS server: NS1/NS2 IP address
router: NIC1 (192.168.50.1)

IPEnableRoute = 1

restarted server .. hooked up this computer .. config'd the Computer and Wet 11 for DHCP .. reset WET 11 after configuring it, waited 30 seconds, did C:\ipconfig /renew_all

B00M, IP address received:

IP: 192.168.50.11
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.50.1

guys, I owe you my life .. it makes total sense now .. that you need to do a "broadcast" for the gateway on NIC2 ..

it's 5am here .. the customers won't be ready for another 4 hours .. it took me all of 30 minutes to get this all setup this morning .. only took me a freak'n week though, to get it work'n (which I NEVER would have accomplished if it hadn't been for you guys)

PLEASE be aware .. More than likely, I'll get the admin job now because of you all .. so next, I get to learn about FIREWALLS and network security!!

but, for now .. OMFG .. IT'S PARTY TIME AT 5AM .. W000000000000000000000000HHHHHHHHHHHH00000000000000000000000

OMG .. guys, thank you all SO SO SO SO SO * infinity much! +1 even!!!!!

You're very welcome.

Yes, it is fun when it all starts to work and the light bulb goes on. When you get it all working, you might want to fill us in on how it is going and maybe another diagram when you get it all worked out.

Half a trillion would be fine.

Good luck on the job.

Thanks,

Tom
