        Thanks for all the comments guys.  I am noting all of it and putting it in my *notes to self* as i start mapping out a new plan!

        I just wanted to note that the cisco's access-dis-core module is very useful and is implemented in most networks. You just might consider using it...

Definately the first thing to do is understand what you have got. Then you can start working on improving it.
