Incorrect configuration of what? If you assign incorrect IP addresses, you'll lose connectivity (assuming that the IP addresses are on the wrong network). If you configure the routing protocol incorrectly you're likely to lose connectivity. If you assign an incorrect access control list to the wrong interface or have it checking "in" rather that "out" you may lose connectivity.

Bottom line: incorrect configuration is likely to result in loss of connectivity.
