i have bought 120GB External WD Hard Disk, i need to know is it possible to install OS in External HD, if yes how, what r the steps?????????

That depends on your computer not the hard drive.. What computer are you using? Mother board I believe is the most important part.

Never tried this before. But some documents claim it's possible.

It's for USB flash, "I guess" it should work on an external too. Also:

But first, check if your BIOS supports booting from USB. if not, you might need a BIOS update or it will surely not work. In fact this is interesting. Tell us if you find something that works.

Yes it is possible as long as your motherboard supports booting in an external drive or device thought it will be slow and i'm not sure if it will work fine if you tried it to other computers.

If you can see USB or External Device from your BIOS's booting menu then you should be able to boot from the hard disk. Also you can do this if you have a USB to IDE adapter, this will solve your problem easily for PCs but for laptop you shold buy another type of adapters.
