what is complementary code keying?

i am a college student and my instructors is asking me to have a report about complementary code keying. I try to research about it, but it is still not clear for me. Can you give me some ideas how this complementary code keying works?

But complementary code keying a.k.a CCK is a form of modulation scheme using carrier waves in wireless networks that are bound to the IEEE 802.11b standard.
