Bus Error! was created by boxer_soho
Yesterday when i was in a company,i received a shocking news. The Internet core router, cisco 7200 DS-3,was rebooted due to bus error. It consist of around 500 tunnels, running mpls, ospf and bgp routing protocols .Not to mention other functions like access-lists,PAT,route maps, static routes and 50 people telnetted into it.It turned out that router malfunctioned due to high cpu utilization. My seniors figured that after running show processes cpu command.
I wanna know whats bus error.I can find it on web but i wanna know from people who have practically experienced this error.
After that,Until now the router is showing drops and high latency in local.

this is the def of bus error.

The system encounters a bus error when the processor tries to access a memory location that either does not exist (a software error) or does not respond properly (a hardware problem).

You can very well troubleshoot it if it's a h/w or s/w error.
