Some interesting comments on there which bring back memories. Funny how Ethernet has become a user commodity now; just another socket like USB into which the unknowing user can stick the appropriate plug and it just works. I remember the early days of Ethernet and back then a good 75% of the network engineer's job was just keeping the basic LANs working, monitoring the broadcast levels, making up connectors and things like that. Now the basic LAN is a commodity.
