2511 Password Removal Not Working was created by Ciscoslave
I am trying to gain access to a recently purchased 2511rj but I cannot get past the password that was put in it. I have 4-3640's that I had no trouble changing or removing the passwords when I bought them. However, this 2511 seems to not use the same commands. Does anyone know how to remove the passwords? I am almost ready to get a new flash if that is what it takes. Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, commands can differ between different IOS/models. Have a look here:
www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/...ide/maint.html#wp918
This document should work for 2511. By the way, were you able to get to ROM monitor mode?

OK, thanks for the links and info. I was able to sucessfully remove and change the passwords. I have also reset the conf reg back to the recommended one. My next challenge will be setting up and configuring the asynch lines. I have made my own rollover cables. I am now waiting for the AUI to Ethernet adapter that I need. Thank you again.
