Cisco 2501 problem was created by jepp
I have a cisco 2501 router problem that is troublesome. The router seems to boot up but goes into the a system configuration dialog. It ask me a question if an interface is in use. I try to answer with no but I can't type anything on the terminal. I tried another router with same connection and it works fine, just this router won't let me type anything in. Tried in rmon and still won't let me type anything. Anybody have any ideas about this situation. Here is what boots up on the screen but it won't let me type anything.

hope its boot sequence may bypassed from NVRAM. Pleas be ensure that your boot registry is 0x2102 otherwise try the following command in ROMMON mode

config-register 0x2102

if the registry is ok then be ensure that if the router having the bootup configuration

When I try to go into rommon it still doesn't let me type anything. I get the rommon prompt and I tried to change the config-registry but with no success because it won't let me type anything on the terminal.

Don't know if this will work, since you can enter the key sequence for RomMon but it's worth a shot. Try one at a time:

1. Use the AUX-port.
2. Change com-port on your computer.
3. Change the rollover cable.

Good luck

Yep, as Gosbollen said, make sure that you are using the appropriate cable to connect you PC with the router. It could be the reason.
