yes its possible .Vmware actually is designed for virtual network connection eliminating the need of multiple PCs to have a networked environment.

Creating "Bridged" Virtual machine allows u to give ur guest Operating system as well as ur host OS machines different ip addresses which can be reachable from each other .As virtual NICs in these host machine and guest virtual machine can b assigned ip addresses from same subnet to get them networked.

hi guys ,
sorry to be a pain , but still got questions with vmware.

Well what i did so far is installed vmware workstation on xp sp2 machine and im using slax bootable cd as the virtual machine.
I created the virtual machine and booted on to the slax desktop.

i want to create a virtual network between the xp machine and the slax virtual machine, so like suggested i choose brigded network when creating the virtual machine.
Now ipconfig/all on the xp machine shows vmnet1 - 192.168.7.1 and vmnet8 -192.168.121.1
My computer is not connected to the internet so the nic says network cable unplugged.
how do i assign the guest machine an ip address cos ifconfig on slax shows 127.0.0.1, do i need to set the ip address manually.

I guess i would need to setup dhcp on the xp machine to hand out the guest machine the ip address , but i not sure how to do this ...

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Cheers,
Donovan
