Recovered files cant open

Hi all i have recoverd files but am unable to open it due to the fact that it says it is password protected what can i do to sort this issue out

Does windows itself prompt you for the password or is it another application. I mean are they for example zip files with password protection?

it is excel itself the pc crashed and they had the data recovered but now they cant open them because they ask for a password that was never there is the file currupt or just missing some system password.

But to be honest, even if it finds a password, I don't think it's going to work in your case. The file seams to be corrupted since you said it didn't have a password before it was lost.
