Hi people I have a unique kind of question which is so simple that even AMD is finding it hard to answer. so the question is as follows,

Q. If we use a numproc switch in boot.ini, dows it actually cuts down the number of processors or the number of cores in the processor ?

For example: If we have AMD64bit 4 Quad core processors (4cores*4processors= 16 cores) and if we use /numproc= 8 in boot.ini will it acutally cut down 2 physicall processors (2*4= 8 ) or 2cores/processor i.e. 2 cores from each processor (2*4= 8 ).

Pretty strange but I called AMD and they did not have a clue about it.

Thanks in Advance :)

Windows will see your processors as 16 Processors, i believe if you set the numproc =8 then you will only see 8 cores.

the proof is in the pudding, try it on a test machine if you c an.
