Is my understanding right...

I know that T568A and T568B are just two of the many wiring standards, now, am I right in thinking that if I wire a Cat5 cable to RJ-45 plug using T568A at both ends I`ve made myself a straight thru/patch cable ?

And T568A to T568B makes a X-over cable ?

Thanks.

Yes, you are correct. The termination wiring is only one part of the EIA/TIA standard, but the rest of the standard is mostly specifications on structured cabling.

Could you possibly direct me to some good online tutorials and/or demos that would help a noob understand the basics of cable crimping n the subtle art involved ? Something that that is grounds up and with pics would more than suffice :)
