Microsoft FUD Machine Aims at Open Office

Article Reads:16236

Microsoft's Fear Uncertainty and Doubt engine is giving a look at OpenOffice - the free, open-source alternative to Microsoft Office. They have released what they call a Competitive Guide which is supposed to show how the expensive Microsoft Office is better than the free Open Office. As usual though the facts are questionable, here is a detailed rebuttal of their 'truths'. Interestingly the Microsoft PDF was made with Acrobat Distiller 4.05 for Macintosh !

I have personally seen a company migrate from using Microsoft Office to Open Office because they were upgrading a lot of MS software and found that after paying all the other licensing, paying for MSOffice was prohibitively costly. They went with Open Office, saved a lot of money, and have never had any compatibility or formatting issues.

The users too adapted very quickly to Open Office since it is very similar in layout and structure to MS Office.
