Hello, I have decided to take up CCNA with self study. I do not have access to actual router and since CiscoLab is also offline, I was wondering if there is any thing like Boson NetSim for GNU/Linux. I am using Hardy Heron.

Thanks,

Thanks S0lo. This looks great. :D

GNS3 site says I need to get my own Cisco IOS image. now where do I get that?

And what's the difference between Router Simulator and Router Emulator

And what's the difference between Router Simulator and Router Emulator

A Simulator TRIES to be just like the real router. An Emulator IS like the real router because it uses the same IOS images that the real router uses, it does that by mimicking the hardware by software.

You might now say that an Emulator is obviously better then, so why would any one use a Simulator? Unfortunately, Emulators are usually CPU hungry by nature, Simulators tend to be lighter on the CPU.

Solo,

Good explanation of the diff between a simulator and emulator. I've always found it difficult to differentiate them.

Thanks
