Hey guys,

I need some advice for becoming a Network Admin. Right now I have over five years of help desk/desktop support, but limited network admin experience. I have pretty good knowledge of basic networking, but not enough to be a network admin. What steps do I need to take to get a job in this area. Right now I am studying for getting my Network+ certification. What else do I need?

you need to take the ccna course and you be able to work on network admin.

you can allso take the MSCE course and able to be windows admin.

good luck

I would advise to also ask at work if you can change jobs over to helping your network people with their work.

Junior network support is a great place to work and provide a great opportunity to translate the theory/practice of ccna into the real world and gain invaluable work experience at the same time.

2 years junior network support and a ccna and you will be well on the way to getting your own network to look after.

I wish I could afford to do that but with a wife and three kids to pay for I just have to hope for a lucky break once I have my ccna.
