I just happened to notice that this excellent post by r0nni3 had its code jumbled up from our site migration, making most of the configuration commands hard to read.

All CLI commands have been fixed and we would like to thank r0nni3 once again for this popular post!

Just thought I'd say thanks for this instructional configuration. It's really helped me understand getting a basic config together.

The one thing I have found with the new IOS 8.4 firmware is the nat and static rules have been deprecated.
The new nat is an object network like this.

object network inside-net
subnet 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
nat (inside, outside) dynamic interface

"inside-net" is just a name and can be anything you like.
subnet is your LAN network
and nat is applied inside the object network

Thanks for your reply and feedback Sam. We are planning to write up an article that will include all information in one easy-to-access place on the site.

We'll surely not forget to mention on the of the biggest changes with NAT on the latest IOS Firmware versions.

Cheers mate,

I have used this guide, literally, several times. Great info.
It just seems the first post is rather scrambled as of now?

Any way to get the original info back?

I'd really like to try this becase my current config has well over 150 lines that I don't understand. My worry is that I'm about to install release 9.0.2 and this seems to be serveral releases back where major changes were done. Will it work for 9.0.2?
