TOPIC: Load Sharing using two routers that have ADSL

Load Sharing using two routers that have ADSL 1 year 5 months ago #38664

Hi,

1st topic as I have found your articles on how to setup Cisco kit really good and informative.

I apologize if this has been answered before also;

I have two ADSL lines and two Cisco 887va boxes.

I would like to combine, load share both ADSL lines to double my total bandwidth at home.

I have seen several approaches that involve PBR but the 887 doesn't support this so is there another way?

Thx
Tim

Hi tim and welcome to Firewall.cx

The Cisco 887 supports Policy Based Routing (PBR) without a problem. I've implemented many installations with the 880 series routers and PBR, however combining two routers to make one big fat pipe is something I believe cannot be done alone as you'll need to request your ISP to aggregate the lines from their end as well.

Your best shot at the moment is to use PBR and send some traffic over one ADSL while the rest of the traffic traverses the second ADSL.

I'm planning on covering this scenario soon as it's a popular topic generally.
Please let us know if we can help any further.

Thanks

Chris.
