We are having difficulty reaching one specific website. We access this site several times a day to download files that we need to process. Until the I find a solution, I have been having the files emailed to me so that we can conduct business. It just started happening today.

All other websites that we access are fine. I have talked with the folks at the company/website and all other organizations are able to access them. I have checked with our ISP (Verizon DSL) and they have not blocked the website. They confirm that they can reach the site.

I have tried pinging the site and get a Destination net unreachable error.

We are running Windows XP/2000 workstations through Ethernet Switches to a Novell Server. Our DSL access in through a Netgear RP114 Router (cheap) and no other firewall.

I am really at a loss at to where to turn and would appreciate any help.

just at to checking some of the features your router has to offer, and i came across this

Parental control of web browsing

by any chance would the website address be entered into this filter
and is being blocked out.

connected to the routers built in web browser and see can u find any entries for the website you are have problems with.

best of luck!

Thanks - I checked the router earlier but could find nothing that suggested your thought. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks again.

I suggest you do the following:

run a traceroute to the website and isolate at what hop you are losing connectivity. The results of this may be skewed if they have any filtering en route.

It would appear at first glance to be a routing problem ("Destination Network Unreachable").. have there been any recent changes in the topology of the network... has the website shifted location or providers... ?

Try accessing the website through a proxy.. use any number of free proxies on the net. If this is stilll not working, post more details and we'll figure it out.

Cheers,

Sahir Hidayatullah.

Billhammer,

I've pinged the site from my computer and get the reply "Destination net unreachable".

I don't know how to ping from my router.

I've been able to reach the site using a public proxy at www.anonymizer.com BUT cannot reach the secure site (https) using www.anonymizer.com

I've gotten the following message using traceroute from www.network-tools.com (My computer doesn't seem to support the traceroute command -- or else I'm using it incorrectly).
