Ms word documents changing to .exe

I think one of my users using a laptotop has a virus,I'm currently donig a virus scan.What happens is that when he gets a word (.doc)documents it changes to a .exe file.Does anyone one know of this virus,can not get much on google andfrom what i can get is that it must be a pretty olc virus.Hope the virus scan works but if anyone can help I'll be greatfull.

first of all, you are doing the right thing in scanning the machine with an AV solution. also you might want to unhook it first on the network to prevent the possible spread of the virus (if there is any).

i just want to ask if he gets .doc convereted to .exe when he is using MS Word or does these documents come in thru email?

Format......

Rebuild

That is the only safe way..
