Hi guys,.. I have a situation.. Someone has deleted the WBEM reg key from one of my DC's. (W2k3)
First off I'm told its important and I have googled it but I can't really find anything that I'm confident in from the web.. Can anyone here give me a good description of what WBEM is and why its so important.. Important enough to have to rebuild my DC?
WBEM - Web Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) Initaive is a standard, mainly for developing Web based management tools from DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force.) All the nice details can be found on
WMI - Windows Management Instrumentation is a M$ implementation of this standard. From WINT SP4 you have this implementation available, which is very helpful for doing many administration tasks via scripting, monitoring etc. via scripting.
With W2K & W2K3 the functionality have been improved a lot, which has lot of advantages and some disdvantages (ofcourse). Also with ADSI integration you can write fantastic scripts for managing AD.
