For some reason when I try to list the computer on my workgroup (home) it only shows the current computer that I am on, but I can still access another compter by typing in \\*Computername* I can access the computer fine. Any suggestions?

Imonfya –

A couple of reasons could be the culprit. We need to gather some information to help solve the issue.

1) How many computers on your LAN?
2) What OS’s are you using?
3) Explain a rough draft of your network?
4) Do you know what “Workgroup” these computers are a member of?
5) Do they authenticate into a server?
6) Do you use static or dynamic IP’s?

Go to each of your computers, go to (for Windows) “Start” / “Run” type in “Command” (minus the parenthesis “”), at the prompt type: ipconfig <ENTER>, post this info back in this thread with the rest of the questions answered and we’ll figure it out.

It sounds as if thay the may not be in the same group or in the same IP schema, pretty simple to resolve. If there is any special configuration to your network such as all wireless or DSL/ Firewall / Proxy etc... that plays a major role in this configuration, please include all.

thanks for the help I just figured out what was wrong with my network.

The master computer browser had shutdown and I had to wait like three hours to wait for it to refresh.
