TOPIC: XORG mouse errors with slackware on Virtual PC

XORG mouse errors with slackware on Virtual PC 13 years 7 months ago #6460

I just got done configuring my virtual PC to run slackware. Great. It installed and boots fine. Now for X. I run xorgconfig and set up the system with most of the defaults until the graphics card config(virtual PC emulates a S3Trio64 driver) and I choose that with the correct memory. now I get a mouse error. I tried EVERY input device in /dev/input/ and I still get it. My question is, how does Virtual PC emulate the mouse?

P.S. Im using a generic USB mouse and have tried using a USB to PS2 adapter and still no luck

I know its not really an answer, but have you tried VMWare ? I've used it to run a Slack guest O/S , and it runs perfectly... no mouse trouble.

Cheers,

lol, I dont have the money to pay for VMware and the MSDN academic alliance got me Virtual PC for free, so I thought Id give it a shot.. I like the idea of having a linux console at my fingertips while running windoze.. I already have FreeBSD and SuSE on my HDD so Im not lacking my linux fix or anything... anyways, if you can dig up an answer for me, that would be great.... if not, I won't pour myself any shots of self pity and cry myself to sleep listening to Barbera Streisand or anything of the sort... well, thanx anyways :-)
