Hmm that should be Kernel 2.6.9

Its a really good distribution.. though I'm much more partial to Debian.. something about Fedora's package management just isn't right.

That said.. check it out.. its really cool.

I'm a complete distro junkie.. I've got the ISO's downloading @ work.. will fire it up on a test box tomorrow / day after and then give me a couple of days to play and I'll post a review here.

I have too many gripes with Redhat / Fedora... RPM's are just NOT the way to go... plus they have too much stuff started by default. I don't know bout Fedora, I haven't used 2 or 3 yet.. but lets see how it goes..

If you want my take on what are the best distros for different types of people:

Complete Newbie - Knoppix / MEPIS
Desktop OS - SUSE 9.1 Professional
Desktop Alternative - Ubuntu (Debian based) / Mandrake 10
Power User / Performance junkie - Gentoo
Knowledge maniac - Linux From Scratch
Road warrior hacker - Knoppix STD / LAS / PHLAK / Auditor
Sysadmin - Slackware

There ya go, contribute your opinions.

Cheers,
Sahir Hidayatullah.

I just got done loading it up on my laptop. Here are the specs:

Dell Latitiude C600
PIII 850
512MB RAM
60GB 7200RPM HDD

Everything worked right off the bat except my Wireless NIC and Docking station Video. Both were pretty easy to fix. The wireless setup was a hell of a lot easier in Core 3 than it was in 1 or 2.

I don't really notice many changes except that Gnome, Mozilla, KDE, SELINUX, and the Kernel were all updated. Most packages were just upgraded to the latest and greatest.

Still no MP3 or NTFS support built in. Also, the RPM respositories are very limited at this point because its so new. Many of the nice RPM's the community built up for Core 2 haven't been built for Core 3 yet.

My feeling, if you are on Core 2 and happy, don't waste your time. I think the only reason to go to Core 3 is if you really have to be bleeding edge.
