I want to make a Network Attached Storage Sever using Linux, which can be integrated with Win2k3 ADS for files/folders security. Can anyone tell me how to go about it? I have P4 3GHZ, with 1 GB RAM, 1 IDE and 4 SATA HDD 120GB each.

I tried FreeNAS ( )

One limitation of the software is the lack of granularity in setting access rights to shares. The local user authentication model is an all-or-nothing affair. You can't set some users to be read-only or others to only have access to certain shares. Once a user is authenticated, he has full access to all the shared storage.

Pls suggest me freeware, which can support CIFS/SMB/FTP and also facility of taking backup on DAT drives.

If nothing works, I am planning to Install RH 9 on IDE and connect 4 SATA Disks in software raid. In that case pls tell me how can i integrate it with my Win2k3 ADS.

Thanks and regards to everyone.
