can I limit bandwidth for my 100TX eth0 12 years 4 weeks ago #15715

My XP machine is connected to my Linux Machine through 100BaseT eth0 cards on both machines.
How can I limit my XP machine eth0 to just 8MB.
actually I want to put a download limit of 8MB/sec for my XP machine eth0.
can I do it through Linux iptables utility or in some other way??

You can do exactly this through the Classfull Queing facility of Linux. The utility to control this is IProute2 .

The (almost) complete documentation for iproute is here .
