Yes, Linux is mostly free from all mass-spreading malware. There are some Antivirus Engines like Clamav, those can be used through console to detect viruses in any file, but they are usually used to protect windows machines, if the linux box serves as a mail/file/other server.

Here's a few AV engines for linux:
* app-antivirus/bitdefender-console

* app-antivirus/clamav

* dev-perl/Mail-ClamAV [ Masked ]

* app-antivirus/f-prot

* app-antivirus/klamav

Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
Size of files: 1,657 kB
Homepage: klamav.sourceforge.net/
Description: KDE frontend for the ClamAV antivirus.
License: GPL-2

* app-antivirus/vlnx
Latest version available: 432e-r2
Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
Size of files: 7,858 kB
Homepage: www.mcafeeb2b.com/

Of course there should be others, more windows-like and commercial, but in my opinion they're totally unnecessary.

On mailservers I've used F-Prot and ClamAV, and I've found ClamAV to consume far less resources. I see it removes many infected messages every day, but like Sahir says, they're all Signature-based Antiviruses so don't rely too much on them!

Finally Someone else realized that a AV solution is as only good as the updates provided.
