how do we comunicate with two vlans within the same switch using a router? do we create subinterfaces in the router ethernet port? what else??? please help!!! i need it for a friend

Either create a trunk port that goes to a router with two subinterfaces or have a physical line from each VLAN going to a physical interface each on the router.

Hello Dude,
If you have sufficient interface available on your router then you can connect the vlans directly into router interface and u have to activate ISL/802.1q frame tagging depnding upong your network whether its cisco or any other brand involved too.If you just have 1 interface then you can connect a switch with that interface of router and then plug in all the Vlans cable into the switch interface(this is called router on stick).
