Im using a cisco 2801 router to access the internet. Its configured with NAT and is working well. The problem is that i cant ping well known domain names like www.google.com or www.yahoo.com but i can ping their ip addresses. The ip domain-lookup command is not disabled either.what could be the problem?

Try changing your DNS address with a public DNS and then ping again. It is a dns server problem

Losh,

I agree with Sose, it must be a DNS issue. I'm assuming you are unable to ping the urls you mentioned from the router's console.

Try adding a few name servers to your router's configuration and also enabling the DNS service.

You'll find all the information you need on our 'Configuring DNS Services for Cisco routers'

Good luck!

You can try Google's DNS servers : 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Let us know of the results.
