Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 10.1.1.2

XP-IP address: 10.1.1.2
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 10.1.1.1

note - the same domain (workgroup) and network in vista is seted as privat

in the result vista can see the sshared file of xp ,but xp can`t see the shared file of vista .
note also. that when entring in network envirement in xp ,by browsing it .appear the computer (vista ) but by clicking in it ...appear message you have`nt permission

First, try this:

windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/...c3ac95003111033.mspx

If it's still not working, consider checking the following point:

1. Disable firewall in Vista or allow "File and printer sharing" in the firewall settings (Ports 139 and 445).

2. Does it say that "you don't have permission" after prompting you for a user/password box or does it immediately says it?. For this, Make sure that the user logged in XP is defined in Vista's users with the same password or define a different user in vista.

By the way you don't need to define the gateway IPs. Since both PCs are talking in the same LAN. When you need to access outside your LAN such as the internet, set the gateway to the IP of the router you have.
