:) Hi all,
can you help me with "A" class ip addressing with "C" class subnet

having more than 1000 hosts.....
My network has an ip in the range of 10.0.0.1 having subnet mask

255.255.255.0. I'm having 1000 hosts in my Network & they are

communicating with each other. I'm little bit confused here. In "C"

class subnet only 254 host can communicate with each other including

gateway. And it's a classfull ip. Please help me with this...

In "Classfull", the subnet is basically ignored and it uses the older conventional way of the first bits int he first octect to determine the subnet. If you are using a 10 address, in Classfull this will relate to a class A and automatically have the mask 255.0.0.0

That siad, i thought that only worked around the Network Devices and not hosts ?

If you have over 1000 hosts then you must have addresses with something like 10.x.y.1 where x.y are not zeros ?
