Hi,

When device gets an IP address using DHCP, it would send an ARP request to find out whether IP is already in use or not ...

Could any one tell me what is this ARP message Called ?. and how does the ARP packet look like( i mean all the fields src mac, dest MAc.. so on)

Thanks in advance,

Best,

hi,
that kind of ARP is called - Gratuitous ARP. When a host is added to the network, or changes its network address, it sends a broadcast ARP to inform everybody on the network. If this address is already in use, the relevant host will immediately inform about it.
