Okay people,

To kick start this new forum, I'm posting a link to HP's support site ... regarding the "Any" key :)

It clearly shows that sometimes you simply need to guide people through every step, no matter how ridiculous it may seem!

That's about as good as talking to a customer and telling them what to type on their keyboard and you tell them something like:

"Ok, this is the command I want you to type:

Type space file.txt"

and they would get the error "'typespacefile.txt' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Couldn't you just cry?

Lol its the old 'My users are stupider than your users' game that admins play :)
Considering I work for a software company, where people are developing high level CAD applications, you'd be amazed at some of the calls the helpdesk here gets !! Its incredible the number of people who can code an industrial level 3D application but cant get yahoo messenger working !!

For my contribution to the forum
Explains stuff relating to Cisco hardware as if Hollywood stars and celebrities had written the tutorials... good for a laugh when you're sick of reading through the reams of technical info people like us end up reading (and secretly enjoying lol)

One morning my alarm goes off bright and early before school. I usually just slam the snooze and go back to sleep...who would of known. But the other morning I left it on after they had this tech support joke. Listen to this.

Calls comes in from a computer rookie talking to a Dell Tech Support:

rookie: "Yes hi is this the Dell Tech Support?"
tech: "yes it is, how can I help you?"
rookie: "well my computer doesn't work!"
tech: "alrighty, why don't you tell me what kind of you have"
rookie: "its a Dell Dimensions, P4 2.4Ghz, 512RAM, GeForce4 video card, with the 18" LCD monitor"
tech "alrighty, and your operating system?"
rookie: "windows xp"
tech: "so it won't even boot up?"
rookie: "nope"
tech: "is it plugged in?"
rookie: "let me check......yes it is"
tech: "did it work after you took it out of the box?"
rookie: "yup, like a charm!"
tech: "hmmm...whats the model # on your computer"
rookie: "ummm let me grab my sec its really dark in here the power went out so I need to grab my flashlight"
tech: *CLICK* hangs up
