I would like to setup a webserver on my home network, but im not certain should i build a linux or windows base web server. i have the apache 2.2 for Win32 and Linux. i guess my question is which on has more security features.

Also i would like to make my web page allow people to preview my home made sound files and if they like them purchase the full version.

What web site would help me complete my goal.

thanks

The general feeling is that Apache runs better on Linux than on Windows. In addition, Apache 2 has quite a lot of security features built in (check out this book review). This is not to say that Windows cannot be used, as you could quite easily use IIS on Windows and it will do a great job.

The key determinant would be the quality of the application stack where your web apps will live. LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) is the current favourite, and even though you could go WAMP (Windows/Apache/MySQL/PHP), the initial observation applies. Ultimately, it may depend on what OS you're comfortable with administering.

Re: Lindows Tunes
Php shopping cart scripts like Zencart should do the job.
