PC1 PC2
Vlan1 Vlan2

Guys I need some help here, a discussion that could help me understand everything that goes on when I ping from PC 1 to PC 2 .

The Router has subinterfaces for both the Vlans and routing happens without any issues. The 3550 does NOT do the routing and I do not intend to use that.

I want to understand how the cam and mac-address tables are propagated with the proceure it follows, like the PC1 sends an arp request to switch 1 , it looks up the arp table and sends it through the exit interface to the router, the router looks at the ? and send it from sub interface 1 to the second one and forwards it through to the second 3550 which checks the arp table, sends a arp broadcast finds a PC2 and so on.

Any link that describes the procedure would be perfect. :D
