TOPIC: 3560 cannot see tftp server attached to switch

3560 cannot see tftp server attached to switch 10 years 4 months ago #26110

ok, this is driving me crazy:

Workstation: ip: 192.168.45.15
switch (vlan1) ip: 192.168.45.101
switch2 (vlan1) ip: 192.168.45.100

switch fa0/48 is attached to switch2 fa0/47

Workstation is attached to gi0/1 on a 3560g catalyst (switch)

TFTP server is running on the workstation, and I can't get the switch (45.101) to comm with the workstation or the tftp server. I get zero ping replies. .. HOWEVER:

sitting on the workstation, I can ping 192.168.45.101 with no problems, but when i'm either telnet to the .101 switch, or on it via console, I can't ping the workstation.

I've also had no problems pinging the other switch (45.100) from the .101 switch. Same thing with my pix at 45.1.. no problems.

For the workstation.. i can ping to the other switch (.100) and the default gateway (.45.1), and even the switch i'm connected to (.101).. just for some reason can't get the connectivity from the switch to the workstation. Also, I am NOT running the windows firewall. Any other thoughts on this?!

Strange!!, All the symptoms you've mentioned look like it's a firewall issue :!:. Are you sure you don't have another firewall hidden like symantec/norton that comes with the AV. Also, I'd try Enabling then Disabling the Win firewall, may be the service is hanging or miss configured.

The only other thing I could think of is miss configured ACLs on the 45.101 switch. But it's probably not the problem.
