TOPIC: Intervlan routing

Intervlan routing 8 years 8 months ago #25422

I hate posting questions before I start posting regularly but this has me stumped.

It is spring break right now and I have no access to the lab, or the instructor.

I have been trying to get my configuration working in packet tracer, and I know i am missing some steps, could someone take a look at it for me,

this is seriously holding me hostage because I cannot get passed this one scenario, I have done the examples in the lab book and followed the website curriculum but keep drawing blanks.

here is the packet tracer file

thank you completely in advance, I plan on becoming an active user here and contribute my knowledge to the best of my ability.

and on a side not, ignore my terrible grammar... I am not an english major :D

mjanderegg,

If you can post a diagram of your setup, current configurations and a clear description of the problem you are facing, the community will be able to help you more efficiently.

I have decided with my time I am going to start over with the basics,

I am working through my workbook again with packet tracer and hopefully I will catch something I missed along the way,

hopefully I can find an answer, and when I do I will post a reply of what I did and how I did it,

Checked your network file.

First, Port Fa0/22 on the 2900B switch will need to be converted to a trunk.

Second, most of the PCs don't have their gateway values assigned.

Third, one of the PCs (172.13.2.227) has an invalid IP assigned. (172.16.13.2.227 !!)

Your subnetting is OK but rather better if you right it like this:

VLAN 10: 172.13.1.0/23
VLAN 20: 172.13.2.0/25
VLAN 30: 172.13.2.224/27
VLAN 40: 172.13.3.0/28

In fact, if you "show ip route" on Router0 it will show you the same thing. Things worked all fine with me when all was done.

Hope that helps.

I knew it,

the trunk link between the router, it lit green because it had and active IP address and the interface was up,

I set trunk encapsulation on all the sub interfaces with the proper vlans,

I thought my error was with the router configuration,

I forgot to do the switch,

Thank you so much, I spent way to much time worrying about the router then checking configs on the switch,

in the future I am going to start dumping running configs into text files and going over them with a fine tooth comb.

thank you again for you help, it has put my mind at ease,

I sweat spring break can really freak study o holics out some times,

now to practice for the written, as well as add routers with OSPF to the whole mix, which will be fun :D
