Hi All,

our client having C1700 router, its up and running I can telnet into that router. Both the ports S0/0 and F0/0 are up and I can ping from my system too. But the issue is after the router I cant reach any of the systems in LAN.

The on-site engineer as checked the cables and Hub and he saying there is no issues on Local LAN. We have checked with another router too but no success.

Please tell me is anyother possiblites for this.

Thanks

Dove

Is your LAN connected to the F0/0 interface ? If so, can you ping the systems in the LAN from the router ? Can you ping anything on the same subnet as interface F0/0, if so is routing setup correctly ? Is the machines default gateways set so that stuff gets routed back ?

Yes, The Ethernet cable from hub is connected to the router ethernet port.

No, I can ping upto Router Ethernet port only.
Can you ping anything on the same subnet as interface F0/0
No

Its not issue with routing and all because from router fas0/0 I can ping outside routers. But the problem is I could not ping the local lan from router. It was worked well till couple of days back. My hunch is, is any issue with router's F0/0 port?

We replaced the router with brand new. Now the problem has been sorted out. But I am wondering what would be the problem with router? Because both the port Serial and FastEthernet are reachable from remote then what could be the issue on router...

Any idea on this? Please

I have seen a similar issue when the "no ip classless" was enabled i had used different classes of subnets. It basically stop routing as it only liked the proper defined classes of subnets with that command.

I entered the "ip classless" command and it started to work ok.

Just a thought ?

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for reply.

I have checked the old router config. The IP Classless was enabled though it was not communicating the LAN...!!!! (Its an ISDN link)
