My 1st post and is important...! 10 years 4 months ago #15027

i am new to my company. i am assigned to construct a well organized networks gathernig many network services such as Internet security, mail server, file server...etc so here is the current view of the troubled network.

apart from socket distribution and cabling we directly wil discuss the core important stuff.

1- Database Server: this server is the only domain in our enterprise. This server is hosting the database where in each client workstation we got a software installed to manipulate the info in the database. we have some distant sites accessing the database unfortunately using an insecure ADSL connection and ISDN connection.

2- accountant server: this machine is part of a worggroup. only accountant users seem to access its databse using a certain software i heard that it was bought from UK...??

3- Mail and internet server: on thismachine we have a software installed that controls internet access. its a proxy and mail server. we have and ADSL connected to it.

so i am working on this plan and hope of bringing all these scattered, uncontrolled and insecured resources into a domain. we have bought the servers and i am suppose to present a design soon.

please try to help. all posts are much appreciated in advance. thank you

I think you are more concern about security (Unknown users from outside). I think one firewall can resolve your problem.
Feel free to respond my answer (Worst or good)
