please to all linux gurus (red hat distro to be precise)

please am a Red Hat enterprise linux prospective user and i have

been having some problem with the installation.i got it from my

linux ebook that installng the server edition will delete all

existing partition including my windows partition on which i

have my working winXp.please i need some explanation

on how to install the server edition without

deleting my winxp partition. thanks

If you are installing Linux in the windows xp machine directly ,linux will take over the boot and you will not be able to use windows.you need to create a un partitioned space for linux first.
Go to Disk management and clear one of the partition (one of primary partion) and create a un partitioned free space . (Linux can be installed in that space)
Now try to boot from the linux CD or DVD and go a head with the installation and make sure Linux identifies the free space in the hard disk.
Once linux is installed the grub menu will include the other OS already in the Hard disk.
