HI PEOPLE,I AM SOME HOW CONFUSED ABOUT HYPER TERMINAL IN RELATION TO CONFIGURING CISCO ROUTERS.

MY QUESTION IS ,I AM TOLD THAT BY DEFAULT ALL THE OPTIONS GIVEN IN HYPER TERMINAL ARE NOT SUPPOSSED TO CHANGE WHILE CONFIGURING CISCO ROUTERS I.E

BY DEFAULT:

DATA BITS ARE 8
PARITY IS NONE
STOP BITS IS 1
FLOW CONTROL IS NONE
BITS PERSECOND IS 9600
BAUD RATE IS 9600

NOTE:IS THIS A STANDARD AND TRUE OR THEY CAN BE CHANGED DEPENDING ON CHOICE.

Hi,

These are pretty much standard settings in Hyperterminal and I've noticed they will work on most machines, not just Cisco Routers.

Yes, you are right. They can be changed if you want to. It depends on the machine you are using and whether the supplier has set different speeds.

Hope that helps

When you create a new connection in HyperTerminal you will get all the above settings as standard except that you'll have to change the speed to 9600 and set flow control to none. Everything else can stay as-is. Note that you'll also need to choose COM1 (for example) instead of a modem as the communications device
