Hello,

Will EIGRP Form an adjacency over a 802.1q trunk link between two layer 3 switches? I have the networks configured as SVI's on both layer 3 switches and have configured EIGRP on both switches. I can not get them to form an adjacency. It is important to note that I am doing this in PACKET TRACER.

I was wondering if the link must be a "Routed Link"

Thanks for your help.

They should be able to form an adjecency over a trunk if every thing is setup OK.

Make sure you define the same VTP domain on both. One of the switches has the to be VTP server mode and the rest is client. Use VTP version 2. Define correct IPs on vlan interfaces.

Also make sure you advertise the networks you have in EIGRP (using network command)

We could help better if you could post your pkt file. You can use www.2shared.com for this.

One you have to advertise network between two routers. For example if you have trunk between two L3 switches you have to make vlan interface on each of them in onet network between them.
Ip adressess have to be on one vlan on both switches (for ex. vlan 100)

SW1 > 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252
SW2 > 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.252

Next you have to advertise this network. So you have to add to your eigrp on both switches network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.252.

I hope i explained it :)

Thanks guys,

I haven't been on this site for a little while. I got it figured out. I needed to add a management vlan on the layer 3 switches. They needed to have layer 3 connectivity.

Thanks for the help
