GNS3 simulator was created by FlipRich
Hey guys, I found this simulator on www.gns3.net and it's hyped up to be pretty nice. It's an actual router/pix/asa emulator so it uses actual Cisco images to run..

I started messing with it yesterday and extremely difficult to use. It seems really buggy. Does anyone else have any experience with this simulator?

Hi FlipRich,

It needs IOS images but doesn't come with it. You need to provide the images. Did you configure an image for it to use?

Yeah, I got several images loaded in, but my problem was with the console function. It seems to not work frequently.

Which version do you use? I'm using the newset 0.7 rc1.

Man, it took me all weekend but I got this simulator to work correctly. If it's not used right, it can be a pain. I just had to be patient with it..

Finally achieved my goal of setting up a PIX and accessing it through the ASDM installed on my laptop.. lol.. This program is pretty nice..

I have tried this simulator a year ago. I was able to run the routers IOS. There was a problem that whenever you execute the reload command, it will hang. PIX, ASA IOS wont work.

No idea about the current status. May be these have been fixed.
